How do I get enrolled?
Call the toll free number or your Regional Nurse
to see if you qualify for the Early Detection Works Program. If you meet the
guidelines, you will receive an enrollment number and information about the
providers near you. You must present your enrollment number at the time of
your appointment to have your services paid by the Early Detection Works Program.
What if something is found?
If one of your tests
shows a problem, the clinician performing the breast
exam will explain it to you and the Early Detection
Works program will pay for other tests needed to
make a diagnosis. The nurse will arrange these
appointments with you.
What if I need treatment?
Women who have no health insurance
and are diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer or pre-cancerous
conditions of the breast or cervix will be referred to SRS for Medicaid
coverage under the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment
Act signed into law by President Clinton. This special Treatment Act
covers women who would not otherwise be eligible for Medicaid.
* EDW is able to help a small number of women under age 40 years of age who have symptoms or a close family member with a history of breast cancer. If you are under 40 years of age call us ( 1-877-277-1368).
